**The Crisis: Free Tuition Doesn't Mean Free Education**

Belize has recently made historic strides by expanding free public education past the 8th grade. However, **"free tuition" does not mean zero cost.** Families are still burdened by mandatory school fees, and the school facilities themselves remain severely under-equipped. Classrooms face a massive shortage of essential learning supplies and vocational tools. Without these materials, children cannot fully engage in their education or build practical futures.

**The Solution: The Skills Development Program**

Led by Summit Rotarian **Deb Hage**—who lives in Belize and teaches at the school—this project fills the critical gaps the government cannot cover. We provide the essential books, school supplies, and tangible vocational training that the classrooms lack.

- **Woodworking:** Hands-on training for construction and trades.
- **Sewing:** Tailoring skills to design and create apparel.
- **Entrepreneurship:** Students sell their products at the local Hopkins Market.

**The Impact: Overcoming Fees and Transforming Communities**

This program builds a sustainable path for students to stay in school and thrive.
