Empathy in Action has been life changing for me. I joined the program knowing that I would have conversations with those currently incarcerated, however, I didn’t know that I would be healing wounds that took me years to cover up. Brothers in Blue have shown nothing but respect, compassion, and deep support to not only myself but others around. They have shown sincere remorse for their actions and take 100% accountability. For the first time in 4 years, I was able to speak my trauma out loud, something that was needed to overcome the internal battles I struggled with for years. If it wasn’t for Megan and her passion to heal, change and rebuild lives, both incarcerated and non-incarcerated folks, I’d still be living in a shell struggling with a mental disease no one knew about. There are no words to express how sincerely grateful I am for TJC and the amazing and inspiring work it’s done for people and society as a whole. Thank you Empathy In Action for allowing me to live again. <3
