I grew up involved with church and continued to have very religious involvement well into my adult life, even living in a volunteer religious organization where we provided food and other relief domestically and abroad. I still value so much of what we did, but I have seen too many religious groups give in to corrupt religion which scapegoats and hurts others, including their own members and vulnerable members of the public. I've seen organizations I trusted a lot capitulate to leaders who seek control. Some are crying "discrimination" if they aren't given government money to support their own discriminatory endeavors. I want to keep a clear line from their zealotry infecting the rest of us.
