The continued financing and investment in oil and gas activity in the region by major European and American banks is contributing to the destruction of the rainforest and our climate. Since 1996, Amazon Watch has protected the rainforest and advanced the rights of Indigenous peoples in the Amazon Basin. They partner with Indigenous and environmental organizations in campaigns for human rights, corporate accountability and the preservation of the Amazon's ecological systems. In the Amazon region of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, Amazon Watch is working directly with Indigenous communities to build local capacity and advance the long-term protection of their lands.
