YTB Cameroon works in partnership with Youth TimeBanking to bring opportunities to members in Yaoundé to participate in Community CALM - projects and activities of reciprocity involving Care-Apps-Learn-Make projects to help develop local sections of communities and build solidarity.

Youth TimeBanking is a practice of service to others based on TimeBanking, which uses time as currency. YTB incorporates values from co-production and aspects of mutual aid, ideas of community currency, and the sharing economy.

One of the world’s most prestigious and highly anticipated dance events, the Prix de Lausanne is an annual international competition open to dancers aged 15 to 18 from all over the world. Unique in its kind, the Prix de Lausanne has been recognized worldwide for over 53 years as a symbol of excellence and a role model for its exemplary ethics and focus on the dancers' wellbeing. Since 1973, the Prix de Lausanne has successfully worked to promote the art of dance and choreography with the help of donations and grants to support young talented dancers in their pre-professional journey.

As a non-profit foundation, the Prix de Lausanne works year-round beyond the main competition to develop educational programs and initiatives with high added value for young dancers, such as the International Summer Intensive Program, the Partner School Choreographic Project, the Swiss Workshop, or the now famous Young Creation Award. Our international preselection rounds in Latin-America, Asia-Pacific, and other regions, aims to support young dancers from underprivileged areas while promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the dance world.

The DemocracyReady NY Coalition is the premier statewide force for civic education, with diverse, intergenerational leadership, a broad,  committed roster of members, and a strong track record of accomplishments. 

Our goal is to ensure every New York school provides **equitable, high-quality civic learning opportunities from pre-K through grade 12**, so all students graduate from high school ready for civic participation in college, career, and community life.

We can’t fully rely on schools - In 2022, the Physical Activity Alliance gave schools nationwide a grade of D– for physical fitness, reflecting MINIMAL access to regular physical education classes, gym time and equipment.

Transforming young lives in South Africa’s Eastern Cape by giving disadvantaged students hope, opportunity and quality education.

HISTORY

Get Ahead Schools was established in 1992 under the Get Ahead Project Trust (NPO 033-051, PBO 130002093) with a bold vision:  to give black, Xhosa-speaking preschool children in Komani (formerly Queenstown), Eastern Cape, the chance to “get ahead” in life by accessing quality English-medium education. What began as a single preschool class of 26 children has grown, through community demand and trust, into a network of three low-fee, independent schools – two primary schools and one high school – collectively serving over 1,100 students from Grade 0 to Grade 12.

Our schools are located in Komani and Whittlesea, deeply rural towns in the Eastern Cape. The region is one of South Africa’s poorest, marked by high unemployment, poverty and limited access to quality education. Despite this, Get Ahead has consistently delivered strong results, becoming a beacon of opportunity and hope in the community.

MISSION AND GOALS

Our mission is to prepare students for a rapidly changing world by:

- Creating an environment that fosters innovation, creativity, resilience, and adaptability.
- Empowering students to become independent, responsible citizens and future leaders.
- Cultivating entrepreneurial mindsets, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Recruiting, investing in, and retaining a diverse team of dedicated educators and professionals.

Our overarching goal is simple yet transformative: to break cycles of poverty and inequality by equipping young people with the education, values and skills to thrive in higher education, employment and society.

CORE FOCUS AREAS:

1. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

We offer a fully integrated academic programme that is externally benchmarked, orientated towards the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) in all grades, and offers both academic excellence and dedicated academic support. We follow South Africa’s CAPS curriculum across our primary schools, while our high school, Get Ahead College, offers the IEB qualification – the only IEB school within a 200km radius. This internationally recognized credential ensures our students gain access to top universities and future career pathways. With a consistent matric pass rate above the provincial and national average (91% in 2024), our results prove the impact of our approach.

2. DIGITAL ACCESS

We embrace technology as an enabler:  we use technology to bring the world to Komani, and take Komani to the world. Recognizing the digital divide in our communities, we invested in laying private internet fibre to our campuses in 2023/24. Today, all three campuses have stable Wi-Fi, ensuring students and teachers can integrate digital learning daily. Many of our students do not have computers or connectivity at home, so this access is critical for leveling the playing field.

3. STUDENT WELLBEING

Every child feels worthy and validated, and staff flourish in an environment that is empowering and positively challenging. Families feel a connectedness to the supportive environment of the school. We employ a full-time, qualified social worker who provides counselling, intervention programmes and referral support. This role is vital in communities where abuse, poverty and family instability are common. Our wellbeing programme addresses not just academic but also emotional and social development, ensuring holistic support.

4. SCHOLARSHIPS AND ACCESS

For over 15 years, the Get Ahead College Scholarship Programme has offered academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students access to quality education. Covering 75% of tuition (with families contributing 25%), the programme combines financial assistance with mentorship, counselling, and, when needed, discretionary support such as uniforms, food or medical care. In 2025, 37 students benefitted from full or partial scholarships.

PAST AND RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS (2021 to 2025):

Scholarship Programme:  37 full and partial scholarships funded by local and international donors and LiftEd Canada.

Student Wellbeing Programme:  Expanded counselling and intervention services for at-risk students.

Digital Fibre Installation:  A 7.5km fibre line project, ensuring digital access across campuses.

Solar Power Installation:  Installing solar systems across all campuses, ensuring uninterrupted teaching and reducing operational costs.

These projects reflect our commitment to innovation, resilience and sustainability in the face of South Africa’s systemic challenges.

Opera di Santa Croce

TapIN channels the energy and enthusiasm of tap dancing back into the community to invoke positive social change.

TapIN Youth Dance Ensemble is dedicated to **expanding access to high-quality tap dance training in underrepresented communities**. We believe every child deserves the chance to experience the joy, discipline, and creative expression that come from rhythm and movement—regardless of financial or geographic barriers.

Through **free tap classes, school partnerships, mentorships, and performances**, TapIN builds a bridge between world-class tap education and the students who need it most. Our growing network includes ongoing enrichment programs at the East Oakland Youth Development Center, public school workshops, and collaborative showcases that bring students from diverse backgrounds together on the same stage.

Since our founding, TapIN has **collected over 500 pairs of tap shoes** for redistribution and raised **more than $18,000** through our annual Bay Area Tapathon to fund free community programming. Looking ahead, we’re developing a **scholarship initiative** that will provide Bay Area dance studios with resources to train talented young dancers who would otherwise be unable to afford tap education.

Providing NYC Public Schools with Training and Resources to Start and Sustain Student Journalism Programs and Publications

Press Pass NYC equips under-resourced NYC public schools with free faculty training, student resources and program support to launch or revive a student news publication – and keep it running. Our goal is to level the playing field in a city where a 2022 Baruch College study found 93 of the 100 highest poverty high schools had no student newspaper. Working on a news team gives teens the opportunity to develop their curiosity and passion by writing about topics that interest them, developing critical thinking, teamwork and leadership along with media literacy.

Since 2021, we’ve helped 30 NYC public schools start or revive a student news publication, online or in print, with 14 more coming in the 2025-26 school year. Every donation goes toward supporting these budding news teams through fellowships for teachers and students.

For example:

- $250 funds a stipend for a Student Journalism Leader
- $500 funds an hands-on journalism workshop for students
- $1000 funds a Journalism Adviser Fellow's first year stipend 
- $2000 funds one year of journalism supplies and resources for a student news team                                              
- $25,000 fully funds three-years of program support for a school news team to ensure sustainability.

A non-profit organisation helping thousands of impoverished families in remote mountain hamlets to help themselves since 1998

**Since 1998,** the East Bali Poverty Project (EBPP) has empowered over **3,500 impoverished families** across **19 isolated sub-villages**, helping them break free from the cycle of abject poverty. Nestled across **5,000 hectares** on the steep and arid slopes of Mounts Agung and Abang in East Bali, these communities once faced isolation without roads, water, health facilities, education, sanitation, or electricity. Children were particularly vulnerable to malnutrition and iodine deficiency disorders (IDD).

Responding to their plea for help, David Booth founded the East Bali Poverty Project in 1998. Following interviews with 1,056 families, the communities prioritized children’s education as the path to a better life for their families, promising to learn from them. This sparked a collaborative effort with all 19 communities, addressing fundamental human needs.

**Key Milestones and Achievements:**

- Educated more than **1,200 children** in 6 remote EBPP schools since 1999
- Built **over 25 kilometers** of roads connecting the communities to the outside world
- Provided safe water for **2,400 families**
- Built toilet/bathroom blocks for **1,515 families** in 13 communities
- Supported **111 severely and 244 moderately malnourished children**
- Eliminated IDD from **84.5% in 1998**
- Established **48 Posyandu** (monthly health posts) serving **>6,000 families**
- Reduced child mortality from **30% in 1999/2000 to zero**
- Provided dental/oral healthcare for **31,300 children** in 51 schools
- Assisted **10,660 children** and adults with ENT care
- Provided physiotherapy services for **73 children with disabilities**
- Facilitated operations for **cleft lip/palate, cataracts, eyes, etc. for 91 children and 300 adults**
- Planted **80,000 bamboo** in **200Ha for afforestation** and community economic development

**Mission:**

To create sustainable solutions to poverty in rural Indonesian mountain villages, with a focus on the health, nutrition, and education of children.

**Purpose:**

Partnering with remote disadvantaged mountain communities, we combat poverty through relevant education, youth empowerment, outreach healthcare, malnutrition elimination, and sustainable dry land permaculture & agroforestry for food security and economic development.

**Current Priority Programs:**

1.     **Integrated Education:** Supporting 200 elementary to high school students in EBPP's 6 remote schools.

2.     **Malnutrition Field Study and Intervention:** Conducting a 5-year study with Udayana University Medical Faculty involving hundreds of adolescent females, pregnant women and their families and mothers of babies under 2 years to develop a replicable 'family model' to eliminate malnutrition.

3.     **Dry Land Regenerative Agriculture-Agroforestry Project:** Aiming for food security and economic development to benefit 700 disadvantaged families in 3 remote Mount Abang communities scattered over 1,000 hectares of dry volcanic ash slopes - requiring urgent road infrastructure to transport produce to market for sustainability

East Bali Poverty Project

The Atlas Cultural Foundation collaborates with rural Moroccans to improve their quality of life. 

ACF understands that community needs cannot be solved in isolation and therefore works with a holistic, integrated approach to development. ACF facilitates successful projects by utilizing systems thinking and teams up with experienced partners, stakeholders, local, international or governmental bodies, and community members.

ACF was founded in 2009 and is a registered US 501c(3) non profit organization and a registered Moroccan association. All donations are tax deductible to the extent of the law. ACF is a non-denominational and non-political organization.

Since 1945, Neighborhood House of Milwaukee has inspired discovery in generations of youth and families.

Neighborhood House of Milwaukee's mission is to inspire discovery in children and families of all backgrounds so they become lifelong learners and confident leaders among their peers, families, and communities. 

Our accredited programs include:

- **Early Childhood Program (ECP)** (ages 6 weeks - 4 years). NH’s state-licensed and nationally accredited, early childhood program provides exceptional care and education that supports age-appropriate development and ensures school readiness. ECP also includes Early Head start programming for infants and toddlers up to age 3.
- **School-Age Youth Programs** (ages 5-12) includes a state-licensed, before- and after-school program at NH, an after-school Safe Place initiative at Story Elementary, and Summer Programming. These initiatives provide educational enrichment, recreation, and community engagement.
- **Teens on the Move Program** (ages of 13-19) provides engaging activities that focus on life and leadership skills, violence prevention, vocational preparedness, health, and recreation.
- **Family Programming** features free or very low-cost educational, cultural and holiday events.
- **International Learning Program (ILP)** offers English as a Second Language, basic education, and citizenship instruction, employment skills training, and access to resources to 200+ adult refugees and immigrants annually.
- **Environmental Education Program (EE)**. One of the oldest environmental and science education programs in the area, EE offers science-based education and enrichment activities using a NH-developed curriculum.
- **Community Education** offers health and wellness events and engages in community-wide health programs. Specific offerings include our annual health resource fair, fall flu immunization clinic, and health workshops.

Neighborhood House of Milwaukee

Global Alliance for Africa is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization focused on digital education in Africa and based in Chicago, IL.

**Organizational Profile**

Increasing digital connectivity for poor, disadvantaged and under-resourced youth will foster multigenerational wealth, pivoting education as being the cornerstone that effects transformational growth, fostering a sustainable future built in equity.

In collaboration with public middle and secondary schools, universities, local agencies, community-based organizations, and various cooperatives, GAA has been at the forefront of building partnerships to design, implement and manage successful educational development and training programs in Africa.

**Statement of Need**

To close the digital divide in Africa, some say that stakeholders need to rethink universal access and broadband policies, promote equal access to digital technology and Increase investment.

**Current Statistics**

- **Broadband access**: In 2022, only 36% of Africa's population had broadband internet access. 
- **Mobile internet availability**: While 70% of Africa's population has access to mobile internet, less than 25% use it. 
- **Digital gender gap**: In 2020, 35% of men and 24% of women in Africa used the internet. 
- **Affordability**: In 2019, the average cost of one gigabyte of mobile data was 10.5% of monthly per-capita Gross National Income (GNI), which is higher than the United Nations Broadband Commission's recommended 2% target. 
- **Digital literacy**: Africa has a significant divide in digital skills. 
- **Digital infrastructure**: Africa's digital infrastructure coverage, access, and quality lag other regions. 
- **Digital competitiveness**: In 2021, Egypt ranked first in Africa in the digital competitiveness index, followed by the Gambia and Tanzania. 

As recently as January 2024 datareportal.com reports that more than 90% of the U.S. population has access to the Internet — whereas in rural areas throughout Morocco there is limited access, and in Kenya 40.8%, Tanzania 31.9% and Uganda 27% of the population has NO such access. Without urgent action, the situation will likely get worse as the region faces a rising demand for education due to a still-growing school-age population.

**Funding Request:** To offer a holistic, scalable program to bridge the inequity gap in digital access and education for 20,000 students in 50 public middle schools and secondary schools in Kenya, Morocco, Tanzania and Uganda. Through a coalition of community-based partners, GAA will lead the Digital Learning Program whose objective is to assure: A world where all can access reliable high-speed internet, devices, learning content, and digital literacy skills. By fostering equal access and proficiency in navigating the digital landscape, we empower current and future generations.

**Program Description Goals:**

Bridging the digital divide is not exclusive to the gap between wealthy nations and poor countries; it also encompasses the growing internal divide in developing countries between middle class families who can afford to send their children to private schools that are equipped with computer labs versus poor households whose children attend schools public schools that have minimal or no technological resources. For digital equity to be successful, technology tools must be **accessible**; schools, learners and families must be able to **affordably** access and maintain them; and learners and families must have the information and skills to **adopt** the technology. These three pillars—**access, affordability, and adoption**—must all exist and work together for communities to remain connected and fully participate as informed citizens in society and the global economy.

**Proof of Concept**

This request is an expansion of a current program already approved by the Ministries of Education in each of four countries in Africa, and has a proven record of success for the five year in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya; rural areas of the Atlas Mountains in southern Morocco; in and around Arusha, Tanzania; and in West Nile Region (including students from the refugee settlements), in southwest Uganda.

·      Number of Students: more than 16,000

·      Of the total number of students that the program will reach, approximately 45% of them are female students, plus a growing percentage of students in Uganda in the program are refugees.

·      Number of Teachers: more than 220

·      Number of Locations: 35, including 33 public schools, two faith-based schools, one technology training center

**Rationale for the Program**

Digital literacy and accessibility are widely regarded as a basic component of civic life and has enormous impact on education, economic development, social welfare, social equity as well as the increased public participation in elections and development of good governance, and access to expanding opportunities both at the local and international level.

A digital learning program for poor and vulnerable students will develop digital skills and provide them with the lifelong ability to navigate the internet. Presently, for example, university application forms are all online, which provides a distinct advantage to urban students who have computer training and access to the internet, whereas rural students are hindered from apply to university due to their lack of computer training as well as access to the internet in rural areas. This results in an even more pronounced digital divide that excludes poorer, rural students from entering higher education.

Of the total number of students that the program will reach, approximately 45% of them are female students, and a growing percentage of students in Uganda are refugees.

Total Cost of the Program: Between $26-$38 per student.

We believe that today’s complex global challenges — climate change, social and economic injustice, biodiversity loss, and the loneliness epidemic — are best addressed at the local level. Working together with our neighbors, we are experimenting with intentional ways of living and learning as part of the [Great Turning](https://https://workthatreconnects.org/dimensions-of-the-great-turning/) - through shared governance, mutual aid, regenerative agriculture, and green energy and infrastructure. Thrive Ithaca EcoVillage Education Center

SPIO is building Pacific Islander presence in higher education and professional fields through free digital resources.

Pacific Islanders remain underrepresented in higher education, professional fields, and in the media today. Often limited in opportunities in their home communities, Pacific Islanders need resources and support to pursue higher education, secure professional positions, and access economic opportunities. Now, with the COVID-19 pandemic and its disproportionate effect on Pacific Islanders and other communities of color, these resources are more essential than ever to foster a thriving, inclusive Pacific Islander community rooted in cultural heritage. 

South Pacific Islander Organization (SPIO) is a 100% volunteer and youth-led nonprofit founded in December 2018 by four Stanford alumni who believe in democratizing Pacific Islander access to higher education and economic opportunities, globally. They came together in response to the lack of cohesive Pacific representation in higher education, professional fields, and in the media.

SPIO's current international Advisory Council and Board of Directors leverage a diversity of expertise across government, corporate, higher education, and nonprofit fields which fuel their inclusive, cross-collaborative, and metrics-driven strategic plan.

SPIO's strength lies in its inclusive vision, international network, community-building capacity, digital reach, and online following. Some of their highlights to date include establishing a 501(c)3 within 6 months of incorporation, reaching over 50,000+ organic international website views in 2 years, and launching 6 digital programs accessible worldwide. 

South Pacific Islander Organization

An institute dedicated to spreading and applying humanity's deepest and most consequential ideas.

Understanding how knowledge grows (the primary concern of *epistemology*) is one of the most fundamental questions that humanity has ever asked. Because the growth of knowledge plays a role in every human endeavor–from science to politics to creating artificial intelligence to raising children to entrepreneurship–getting the answer wrong necessarily leads to blind alleys and errors. Fortunately, Karl Popper, David Deutsch, and other thinkers have discovered and elaborated upon the right answer: that knowledge grows via conjecture and criticism.

Such a simple idea (the entire theory of which is called *critical rationalism*) has an enormous number of practical implications for all of the aforementioned fields and any other in which humans can make progress. While the revolutions brought forth by Newton, Darwin, and Einstein were profound and improved mankind's lot in the universe, even they were limited to particular strands of human endeavors. But epistemology is universal for any problem a person or society faces. Therefore, spreading critical rationalism and its implications will dissolve barriers to progress that most people do not even know stand in their way.
