The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is a volunteer-based, non-government organization whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty through education, animal sheltering and advocacy, based in Quezon City, Philippines.

PAWS also runs an animal shelter for over 300 cats and dogs rescued from cruelty or neglect. There, animals are rehabilitated in the hope of finding them new homes and a second chance at a good life.



There is also a low-cost clinic that provides veterinary services to the indigent community, including spay and neuter (kapon).

My Dog Is My Home is a national nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to shelter and housing for people experiencing homelessness with companion animals. By securing their ability to maintain their most important relationships and find adequate shelter, we ensure every family’s right to build a home.

We assist service providers like homeless shelters in expanding their programming to allow humans and their companion animals to remain together. My Dog Is My Home’s programs currently fall into three categories: storytelling, community building, and technical assistance.

STORYTELLING
Storytelling is at the foundation of our work. We believe that people who are impacted by the problem are necessarily close to the solution. My Dog Is My Home provides a platform for people with actual lived experience of homelessness and animal companionship to share in their own words how co-sheltering people and animals together contributes to ending homelessness. Through exhibitions, speaking events, and video or narrated images, we are able to educate members of the public, program administrators, and policymakers about preserving the human-animal bond in circumstances of homelessness.

COMMUNITY BUILDING
We believe in the mantra that we are “stronger together.” My Dog Is My Home holds space for members of the homeless services and animal welfare communities to come together to connect, learn from one another, and solve mutual problems. Most notably, our community building efforts have created two related but distinct stakeholder watering holes: 

1) Annual Co-Sheltering Conference
Since 2021, My Dog Is My Home’s annual conference has drawn 400-500 people together from across disciplines to hear from homeless shelter programs about co-
sheltering models in practice, latest research in homelessness and animal companionship, and relevant policy efforts across the US and globally.

2) Co-Sheltering Collaborative
The Co-Sheltering Collaborative is a peer-to-peer learning network with membership that
spans across animal welfare and homeless services. This Collaborative meets as a large group on a quarterly basis to exchange resources, troubleshoot, and hear presentations from members on the progress of their work. In between large group meetings, working groups meet to produce deliverables that work towards collectively developed goals. The Collaborative also provides a sustained community for attendees of the annual conference.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
My Dog Is My Home also works with homeless shelters that need more hands-on assistance with developing or implementing co-sheltering. We provide customized training, consultation on policies, and resource coordination to ensure a successful co-sheltering program.

These forgotten feral's need shelters so my partner and I build numerous houses every year, which we stuff with hay and insulate with blue spruce tree limbs. It takes tremendous work and effort to place these homes in the woods. We also build numerous feeding cafes every year. These feeding cafes are where the food and water is placed and kept dry from inclement weather. When feeding we stay with the feral's until they are done eating so they can eat without fear of the predators. With our harsh Maine winters, these areas must be shoveled and kept dry; otherwise these animals couldn’t reach their food nor get out of their houses. We have 18 areas on the outside so when we have a blizzard we have to shovel several hundred feet to reach these feeders and cafes. One site is over a mile to shovel, in order to reach their houses and cafes . Some days we may start at 4:30 am and not finish for 24 hours.

We are committed to promoting the cat-human bond while cultivating relationships with local animal control agencies, humane societies, other rescue organizations, and our local community. FCN works to ensure the well-being of companion cats by providing medical care and rehabilitation services to those felines that arrive sick or injured. Ideally, we would like to aid as many cats as possible, however, in reality, due to insufficient funding, and space we must prioritize. Many of our cats come from shelters and animal control agencies that, by necessity or policies, must euthanize. Our primary focus at FCN is to admit cats facing desperate situations of unnecessary euthanasia. As a secondary focus, we then work within Lake & Porter County, Indiana to accept cats coming from other intolerable circumstances such as; overcrowding and situations of neglect or abuse, when space and funding are available. We focus on the need in our local communities first before reaching beyond our service area. .

Heaven Can Wait’s Pups on Parole Program is a prison dog training program providing medical care, socialization, rehabilitation, and training to dogs that would be considered “at risk” in a traditional shelter environment. Often taking in dogs presenting checkered pasts, medical issues, or those who are in desperate need, the Pups on Parole program pairs them with an inmate at the local women’s correctional facility to train them to become ideal doggy citizens. Hundreds of inmates have benefitted from the program, some calling it “life-changing", and thousands of dogs have found new, loving homes.

There are an estimated 200,000 free-roaming cats in the Las Vegas Valley. HCW’s Community Cat Clinic serves those cats who have no access to care and may never even receive any in their lifetime. With the goal of ending community cat suffering and over-population, we work with volunteers and organizations that trap these cats so they can receive spay, neuter, and vaccine services along with lifesaving veterinary care for the many illnesses and wounds they present. We are the city’s primary resources for these community cat services.

Heaven Can Wait’s Wellness Clinic is our most recent program. As our community’s need for affordable veterinary care grows, they work to fill that need by providing low-cost preventative care for pets. Here, pets are able to receive diagnostic, treatment, and outpatient procedures at a much lower cost. These efforts prevent illnesses that could incur incredible veterinary costs for families. With the goal of keeping pets happy and healthy with their families and out of shelters, HCW provides these services for families who may feel they have run out of options for medical care.

Sanctuary Hostel and Animal Rescue is an innovative 501c3 nonprofit with a mission to reduce stray animals on the streets. We achieve our mission by combining an Animal Rescue with:
*Eco-Hostel, to raise awareness of the problem and financially support the nonprofit
*Community Garden, to have a shared space that can provide for the community
*Education Program, to provide free classes on animal communication, training, and sustainability

Our founder has purchased the plot of land in Rosarito for our pilot location, and we have just completed the architecture designs for our facility. Your donation will help us acquire permits and set the date for when we can break ground to build the shelter, hostel, and garden.

The Problem:
Roughly 70% of Mexico’s 18 million dogs are abandoned and become strays, making it the worst country for pet abandonment in Latin America. Animals are treated more like property than pets, and they are often mistreated whether living in a home or on the street. Most attempts to rescue animals often act only as a Band-Aid, not addressing the root of this problem. Additionally, many animal rescue operations close due to a lack of long-term ongoing donations, returning animals back onto the street.

Our Solution: 
Our innovative solution is to tackle the stray animal problem at the source. We will do this by:
1. Encouraging animal compassion in young kids and surrounding communities, to prevent animal abuse and shift the culture to see animals as beings deserving of our help and love
2, Training people to better communicate with animals for a happier co-existence, to prevent animal abandonment
3. Setting up an environmentally friendly hostel and community garden to help fund the rescue, provide positive exposure for animals and people, facilitate adoptions, and offer free educational classes.

     We recently closed a very successful wholesale business that took the last 15 years to build from the ground up. After seeing firsthand the massive amount of b-stock and returns the American consumer machine destroys every day. We knew there must be a better way. Now We do Our best to get all that wasted food, medicine, and toys into the hands of the shelters and rescues that need them desperately. Most of them are small privately run organizations. Helen Woodward Animal Center's passionate belief that animals help people and people help animals through trust, unconditional love, and respect, creates a legacy of caring.  Sharing this philosophy with others, the Center inspires and teaches, locally and globally, the importance of the animal-human bond.

Helen Woodward Animal Center was founded as the San Dieguito Animal Care and Education Center in 1972 with its primary focus on pet adoption and humane education.  In 1986 the Center was renamed after its founder, Helen Woodward, and program offerings were expanded to include Pet Encounter Therapy, Therapeutic Riding, and AniMeals. These programs helped further our goal of serving as a place where “people help animals, and animals help people” by bringing people and animals together for the mutual benefit of both.  In 2017, the Center added Pets Without Walls to provide no-cost vet care to the pets of the homeless population in San Diego. Since then, we have added additional services including a top-rated boarding facility, a state-of-the-art equine hospital, an affordable small animal hospital for the public, and a designer resale store. 
Helen Woodward herself would be proud of the over 10,000 pets and more than 90,000 people these programs touch each year, and that the Center continues to teach and provide programming for all of San Diego County, across the nation, and globally the importance of the human-animal bond.
