With 2,000+ members, a network of 47 community gardens, planting food and practicing resilience for our collective future. 

Founded in 1998, the **Los Angeles Community Garden Council (LACGC)** was established to create safe, green spaces in underserved urban neighborhoods. Over the past two decades, LACGC has transformed vacant lots into thriving community gardens, fostering food security, social connections, and environmental stewardship. Today, LACGC oversees a decentralized **network of 47 community gardens** with more than 2,000 members serving about 6,000 people across Los Angeles County.

In 2024, with a new executive director, LACGC shifted from a "hub-and-spoke" model to a **decentralized, peer-to-peer network**, where gardens function as "living laboratories." Each garden is in many ways an experimental space for testing different approaches to self-governance, food production, and community resilience. This new model allows for greater innovation and flexibility while maintaining a collective framework for learning and resource-sharing across the network.

Each garden operates as a **living laboratory**, experimenting with governance models, sustainability practices, and community-driven solutions. Some gardens prioritize food production, while others focus on becoming resiliency hubs with initiatives like **cool zones** to mitigate heat or water capture systems for sustainability. This decentralized framework empowers gardens to address the unique needs of their communities while contributing to larger, systemic goals like climate resilience and social equity.

LA Community Garden Council - General Support

FWI reduces the suffering of farmed fish by researching and executing evidence-based interventions in high-priority contexts.

The mission of Fish Welfare Initiative (FWI) is to reduce the suffering of farmed fish as much as possible. We do that specifically by researching and testing evidence-based welfare interventions, and then implementing them in high priority contexts. Our main implementation program right now focuses on collaborative farmer outreach in India to improve water quality and reduce stocking densities. As of this writing, this program currently works with about 100 farms (www.fwi.fish/farmers). FWI also invests significantly in research to identify and test more promising welfare improvements (www.fwi.fish/post/rnd-plans-2024).

Fish Welfare Initiative

Nyanam is a restorative justice organization preparing widows to lead positive community transformation.

We are a restorative justice organization, preparing widows to be leaders of positive social transformation in their communities through integrated programs in leadership, health, livelihoods and justice. Our work alleviates widowhood poverty, mitigates the impact of HIV/AIDS, and gives widows the tools to tackle oppressive cultural, economic, and social practices that undermine widows’ dignity and limit their agency.

Past and current activities 
Our unit of operation is the leadership circles, which are self-led widow-to-widow support groups that meet on a weekly basis. We also have youth mentorship groups that organize and meet weekly during school holidays. In the leadership circles, widows offer each other spiritual, emotional, and economic support, replacing isolation and loneliness with communities of friendship. These circles consolidate their collective voice to guide the design and implementation of Nyanam’s work. As an organization, we have five main program areas that guide how we engage with Nyanam widows and their children. We use capacity strengthening as the core approach in implementing our programs. Our holistic interventions in leadership, livelihoods, health, justice, and youth education are delivered through our unique curriculum called Voice of Change, a Nyanam’s unique and widow centric training curriculum tailored to respond to the needs and concerns of widows, and uses storytelling, deep listening, and social action as approaches for community transformation. 

Leadership: Widowhood thrusts women into household leadership in patriarchal culture where male headship is valued and expected. We affirm the leadership of widows and harness their potential for community transformation. From the leadership circles, we have trained 640 widows in our various capacities who have in turned trained 780 widows in the same knowledge and skills in their groups. Further, leadership circles conduct Bible studies for spiritual development, personal sharing for emotional support, and table banking for economic development. 

Livelihoods: Our livelihood program has two main components; economic empowerment and sustainable agriculture. We train Nyanam widows in sustainable agriculture, financial literacy, table banking and micro- business skills. We offer them seed funding for their group table banking and businesses, we provide them with vegetable seeds for planting, and new gardening resources (multistorey gardens). 

Health: Nyanam widows' health and well-being is our primary focus. In this program we train our widows in trauma healing, preventative health and counselling. Through our professional and trained counselors, we provide widows with individual and group counseling sessions which support and addresses each widows’ nuanced situation and unique set of challenges, as well as mental health workshops with specific themes at the request of the widows. Further, we have a team of trained community health volunteers that provide monthly health talk sessions in the different leadership circles as well as home visits and health referrals where needed. 

Justice: Access to, ownership and control of land is both a human right and an economic justice for widows. In this program, we raise awareness on widowhood issues and take action to address injustices related to land, housing and widows’ rights. We ensure this through community leaders education and training, conducting conflict resolution sessions among Nyanam widows and their relatives, provide direct legal support to widows who are pursuing their land and property inheritance and succession, provide housing support  by building Nyanam widows dignified houses in partnership with other stakeholders and undertake policy advocacy with different government agencies and policy makers on widows human rights. 

Youth Education: Widows’ children are particularly a population in need of support, as poverty limits the future of both the widows and their families. Guided by our 3-year youth education strategy, we provide capacity training to Nyanam widows children in comprehensive health education, technology and robotics and environmental justice. The training is multiplied in the youth mentorship groups by a group of trained Nyanam youth mentors supported by trained widow matrons. In addition, we provide need based secondary school education sponsorship to widows children to improves student access to secondary education, but also builds students’ communication skills and goal setting through the application and mentorship process. 

In the future we are planning to serve up to 10,000 widows in our region and establish a widow-led cooperative business for financial security and additional income for Nyanam widows improving their financial status and muscles. Further, we seek to expand the work to other communities through training of different partners and stakeholders in our intervention the Voice of Change as a key driver for positive community transformation in the communities of widows.

Goonj, founded in 1999 by Magsaysay award winner Mr. Anshu Gupta, works on poverty alleviation, rural development, and disaster relief & rehab, by using the cities’ discards as fuel for wide-spread development work across villages in India, creating a barter between two new currencies - the urban underutilized material, and, the efforts of rural communities who work on the neglected issues around water, sanitation, agriculture, education, local infrastructure, access, etc. Working with a strong network of 600+ grassroots partners, in the last 8 years (2014-2022), they have reached out to more than 12 million people, facilitated 55,000+ development activities, and channelized more than 45 million kgs of material across 31 states & UTs of India.

2024 - 2025 : Together, let's bring the Grottoes of Vaux-le-Vicomte back to life !

**The International Friends of Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a charitable fund set up in February 2012. The Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte is one of France's most treasured institutions, celebrated for its art historical, architectural, and botanical importance and the devoted stewardship of its owners.**

**It was constructed from 1641 to 1661 for Nicolas Fouquet, the superintendent of finances for the king Louis XIV.**

**It was the first large-scale collaboration between the three major 17th-century figures in architecture, interior decoration, and landscape design: Charles Le Brun, Charles Le Brun, André Le Nôtre.**

**Owned by the de Vogüé family since 1875, each successive generation has devoted themselves to its stewardship.** 

**The Mission Statement of this fund is to bring together a devoted community of supporters, who together with the de Vogüé family, safeguard the Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte through the preservation of its architecture, art, and gardens and promote the chateau's legacy and profound contributions to the arts. This statement of purpose has guided the château since Count Patrice de Vogüé, opened the family home to the public in 1968.**

**Today, his three sons Alexandre, Ascanio and Jean-Charles, carry the torch.**



**Our capital campaign - *Retour aux Sources* - aims to revive the Waterworks in the Le Nôtre's garden of Vaux-le-Vicomte**

 An underground reservoir around 885 feet long collects rainwater by means of two underground gritstone water channels. The water then feeds the fountains through the force of gravity alone (Vaux is the only remaining site in France where no other energy than gravity is used). This system only allows the fountains to operate for a limited time and it is sometimes necessary to wait over a week for the reservoir to refill.

In keeping with the authenticity of the area, the objective is to operate the 22 fountains of the garden on a daily basis, without interfering with the layout or the hydraulic system designed by André Le Nôtre, modernizing only the way in which the underground reservoir is filled. By drawing water from the river and nearby sources, the water supply to the fountains will remain natural. The gravity-based circuit will work in the same way as it did in the seventeenth century, with particular attention being paid to the economical and respectful management of our primary resource: water.

 

After restoring the two basins of the *Cours d’honneur* of the château and the *Gerbe d’Eau* (for a total of us$ 1,5 millions, the next step is to restore The Grottoes.

A masterpiece designed by Louis Le Vau and André Le Nôtre, the Grottoes are the centerpiece of the gardens. Located on the main axis, they catch the eye from the south steps of the château. This grandiose setting is enhanced by a superb sculptural ensemble of eight atlas, river divinities and sandstone lions. Surrounding the Grottoes, the gushing water basins enrich this monumental setting with two *Bassins ronds* and the two *Bassins aux Grenouilles.* The whole complex rests on a retaining wall, thereby concealing an underground reservoir essential for supplying the fountains in the lower gardens. This structure of rare splendor as much as a feat of engineering is essential to the realization of our grand project *Retour aux Sources*, which aims to have all the fountains operational throughout the entire public opening season.

Between now and 2028, a number of projects will be carried out to restore the Grottoes to their former glory. A vast program, commensurate with the size of the building, is orchestrated in 3 major phases. 

**Phase 1 : The Lower Basin of the Grottoes and The Monumental Staircases**

This first stage encompasses waterproofing work on the Lower Basin of The Grottoes, masonry work to reinforce its banks and The Monumental Staircases that flank them on either side. *The Grille d’Eau*, with its 10 jets, will be refurbished to restore its aquatic spectacle.

**Global cost: us$ 1,270,000 and work will start in 2026.**

 

**Phase 2 : The Bassins Ronds and Bassins aux Grenouilles**

The second stage will focus on the work on the *Bassins aux Grenouilles* and *Bassins Ronds* (masonry, landscaping and water jet fittings), with particular attention to the preservation of historic materials.

**Global cost: us$ 1,210,000 and work will start in 2027.**

 

**Phase 3 : The Grottoes retaining wall**

Restoration of its concretions, its gigantic atlas sculptures and the hydraulic system, all to ensure the proper functioning of the fountains and the visual harmony of the site.

To promote the creative participation in society of those differently abled, through ecological agriculture and expressive arts.

Since our inception we have created opportunities for people of All Abilities to be impactful within our local food system and community.  For our Farmers of All Abilities and their loved ones, we have tried to address the  issue of ‘aging out' of the school system, which often leads to lack of support services, isolation and fear for the future given the difficulties of living with a (dis)ability. At Orkestai our community tends to a no-till garden, pastured poultry, does yoga and other movement exercises and enjoys culinary and art projects. During Overwintering, we spend more time the forest, connecting with nature through shelter building, firemaking, wildlife tracking and more. Donations support our programmming, allowing us to provide year-round wholesome opportunities to be in nature, creating and growing in community.

**Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP)**

Caritas Manila believes that *education* is the *best social equalizer.*

YSLEP is Caritas Manila's flagship program. It forms future leaders from the poor by *providing scholarships and formation sessions* to around 5,000 youths nationwide.

**Caritas Damayan**

Damayan is the umbrella program of Caritas Manila that covers: (1) preventive health, (2) plant-based food security, (3) feeding and nutrition, (4) crisis intervention, and (5) disaster relief and rehabilitation.

Its sub-programs are:

1. **All is Well** - Through the help of its partners in the medical field, Caritas Manila *offers health services in 28 clinics* in Mega Manila.
2. **Gen129** -** This program advocates lifestyle change through plant-based living. In this program, we teach the poor *how to grow their own food* for a more sustainable future.
3. **Munting Pag-asa** -** This program aims to *counter malnutrition* by providing healthy supplemental meals to poor malnourished children for 120 days.
4. **Unang Yakap** -This program provides healthy meals and vitamins to *poor pregnant/lactating mothers* for 120 days to ensure the optimum health of the mother and their child. Beneficiaries also receive seminars on financial literacy to improve their living condition.
5. **Caritas in Action** - In cooperation with Radio Veritas 846, the CIA program provides medical, legal, hospital bill, laboratory, psychosocial, and burial assistance.
6. **Cadamay** - It *provides emergency relief response* within 24 to 72 hours by distributing food packs, hygiene kits, bedding materials, and shelter repair kits. It also provides livelihood assistance to victims of calamities and church reconstruction assistance to affected parishes.

**Restorative Justice**

It is a program designed to *help Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs)* heal their relationships with their families and the community. It also aims to help them be reintegrated into society as self-sufficient individuals.

**Sanlakbay**

Sanlakbay para sa Pagbabago ng Buhay is a parish/community-based rehabilitation program that aims to transform lives, restore human dignity, and *reintegrate* d*rug dependents* into their communities.

**Segunda Mana**

It is the donated goods program of Caritas Manila that *converts in-kind donations into cash* in our 47 charity outlets in Mega Manila to:

- Fund over 5000 tech-voc and college YSLEP scholars
- Support the livelihood of over 300 micro-entrepreneurs and their families from informal sectors like BASECO and Payatas
- Strongly promote the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle)

**Institute for Servant Leadership and Stewardship (ISLaS)**

ISLaS is the *volunteer arm of Caritas Manila* which mobilizes around 5,000 volunteers within the Archdiocese of Manila.

Parish-based leaders and volunteers undergo continuous training and values formation that mold them to become committed servant leaders. These volunteers enable us to efficiently and effectively implement various social services and development programs for poor families in their communities.

Despite all the progress over the last 15 years, the work has only taken place on 30% of GreenEarth's endowed land. and we have ways to go!  We can plant 40,000 more trees on our Phase 1 development of 32 hectares plus the need to build access roads, pathways and hiking trails, before we hop on over to our Phase 2 development of 75 hectares.   We can continue to scale up our livelihoods in organic agriculture by continuing to build the density of our raw materials  in hardwoods, fruit-bearing trees and ornamental plants, if we were to dream big and be a global purveyor of certified-organic products, which will bring in a tremendous amount of livelihood for the rural poor in our catchment community.

One Acre Fund

Not for profit, founded as a 501C3 charity in 2006 in NYC. Providing Health, Education, and Empowerment opportunities.

Our cornerstone project was building East & Central Africa's 1st Public Children's Hospital.  Since opening in 2015, we have treated over 1.2 million kids. The impact does not end there, we have also constructed six public (free-to-attend) schools, a dairy project, a community house and more. Gleaners Community Food Bank exists to provide households with access to sufficient, nutritious food and related resources.

Headquartered in Detroit, Gleaners serves five Southeast Michigan counties: Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe. Gleaners provides food to nearly 400 partner soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, schools and other agencies across the region, and supplements the efforts of those partners by offering direct service drive-up grocery distributions. Gleaners further empowers households with food programs and education to help overcome food insecurity. Every dollar donated provides three meals, and 92 percent of our expenses directly support our neighbors facing hunger.  

**Food Donations and Surplus:** Gleaners has developed a very efficient, technologically advanced system to collect, store, and distribute food with very little waste through our state-of-the-art distribution center in Wayne County, supported by our distribution center in Livingston County and our headquarters in Detroit. This process allows Gleaners to handle a tremendous volume of donated food, as well as the fresh produce we purchase, to ensure our communities have access to a variety of healthy, nutritious food. 

**Partner Agencies:** Gleaners is devoted to getting surplus food and donated items directly to our partners, saving their organizations time and money so they can focus on better serving their communities. Together, we are increasing the amount of vital, emergency food available to our neighbors facing food insecurity and building capacity for service organizations to make an even greater impact toward solving hunger.

One Tree Planted engages and impacts populations all over the world. In just nine years, we have gotten over **100 million trees** in the ground through new and established relationships with over 463 planting partners. In 2022 alone, we planted over 52 million trees within 327 planting projects in 74 countries across six regions and have potentially sequestered more than 10 million tons of carbon over the next 20 years. Through these projects, we helped to:

- create 2,438 jobs,

- engage over 32,000 volunteers, and 
- restore 97,769 hectares of land.

AIR's focus is the interrelated problems of deforestation, mudslides, malnutrition, and habitat loss in rural Central America. 

The Alliance for International Reforestation's (AIR's) mission is to implement educational programs, reforestation, and regenerative farming methods in Central America in order to protect water sources, build soil health, prevent mudslides and erosion, prevent lung disease and provide more nutritious crops—while protecting the Earth. We choose Hope.

AIR utilizes a comprehensive community-led program with interrelated environmental and rural poverty components to help indigenous Maya communities and the environment. They include:  

· Reduce the impacts of climate change through reforestation using native species of trees

· Establish forested landscape linkages to improve biodiversity and movement of wildlife

· Improve food production and nutrition using organic regenerative farming techniques

· Reduce mudslides and soil erosion, and improve downstream water quality through reforestation and agricultural techniques

· Reduce firewood usage and lung disease by constructing fuel-efficient vented cook stoves

· Educate children by providing curriculum, gardens and tree nurseries for rural schools

· Establish tree nurseries that can be converted to micro-businesses

AIR developed and utilizes a community-based reforestation and regenerative farming approach to implement its projects. This approach involves farmers and community members providing the leadership, labor, and land for the AIR program; and working and learning under the direction of an AIR technician for 2-5 years. All of our technicians are indigenous Maya who speak the local dialects and know the communities they serve, facilitating close long-term relationships. Our AIR technicians initiate the projects, provide the supplies/materials, and are expert teachers and a resource, but local community members own and manage the projects.

In 2023 AIR worked in 70 communities in Guatemala and Nicaragua and our tree nurseries produced over 775,000 seedlings.

**Utthan's journey began in 1981**, when four women chose to work in the desolate Bhal region of Gujarat, helping marginalized communities to self-organise around critical livelihood issues. **It is a grassroots-based institution with a mission to empower women and young girls by providing them with the perspective, resources and tools they need to amplify their voice, gain access & control over productive resources, entitlements & services, and take control of their bodily autonomy.** To create systemic change and drive sustainable impact, Utthan also facilitates partnerships and synergies with various stakeholders and engages in evidence-based advocacy and policy dialogue while continuously taking up its own organisational development.  

**The Challenge being addressed**: Women and young girls face significantly disproportionate challenges due to social, economic, political & environmental marginalization. This creates overlapping & interdependent systems of oppression, discrimination & disadvantage. The **adverse impacts of poverty, hunger, resourceless-ness, violence & climate change on women and girls are most acute**. As a result, their voices are more than often ignored & silenced and their needs neglected. This adversely impacts their ability to take decisions at individual, household, community or societal level. This inequity is perpetuated in society & associated structures, as a whole. Any development or growth therefore remains inequitable, incomplete & unsustainable. 

**Path to address the impacts on women and young girls**: Utthan works on **building their agency** at individual, household, community & societal level through **enabling control over assets, body & voice**. This in turn enables them to shape their own destinies and provides them the confidence to partake in the **creation of a more just & equitable society**.

Prioritising community-based & community-led transformation has been pivotal in building a critical mass of local leaders; amongst women, men & youth. Utthan's practice areas are very much aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals & are demonstrative of grounded & women-led action to address women's human rights which are deeply intertwined with security, climate change, biodiversity, water security, resource distribution & governance issues. Presently, Utthan **directly** impacts the lives of over 8.5 lakh individuals in six districts of the western state of Gujarat in India. Local farms are essential to our daily lives. Investing in Washington farmland means healthy food for our children, thriving rural economies, and fertile, productive soil. Simply put: farms make our communities better.

But the future of farming is threatened. Over the last four decades, some of Washington’s best soils have been irreversibly lost to development. In the next ten years, 70% of local growers will retire without a successor in place, and new farmers face countless barriers to accessing land, from affordability to systemic racism and discrimination. As land prices skyrocket and climate change threatens our landscape, we are working to protect farmland, support farmers, and chart a new path for the future of farming in Washington State. 

We see farmland conservation at the nexus of many important issues, from rural economic development to local food production and climate change. By working in partnership to protect farmland and prioritizing the needs of local farmers and the community, we are creating a more sustainable and resilient future for our state.

We are a statewide organization, prioritizing farming communities based on a set of conservation criteria. We conduct technical mapping to understand where soil quality is highest, and use factors like development pressure and climate impacts to help us identify the most urgent threats to farmland. We typically protect farms in close proximity to one another in order to strengthen the fabric of the rural communities where we work. Threatened farmland sometimes needs direct intervention to ensure it stays available for future generations of farmers. We use tools in different combinations, depending on the context and needs of each specific project. Each tool ensures the permanent protection of farmland.

Through our Farm to Farmer program, we help farmers find the land opportunities they need to grow their businesses, and help landowners sell or lease their land to keep it in farming. We offer personalized technical assistance to current and aspiring farmers, farming and non-farming landowners, veterans, real estate agents, and organizations looking to expand their incubator or agricultural park programs, which are areas set aside specifically to encourage continued farming operations.

By protecting farmland forever, we are creating access and affordability for a new generation of farmers. By removing development potential from farmland, the purchase price becomes much more affordable — often by as much as 50%. With access to land being the number-one hurdle that new and beginning farmers face, we aim to address this barrier by protecting land and making connections to land opportunities through our Farm to Farmer program.

Chambord has aroused admiration and fascination to the world for over 500 years. Placed on France’s first list of historical monuments in 1840, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, it is one of the most breathtaking construction of the Renaissance. Far from being a residential palace or a hunting lodge, Chambord embodies the values of humanism, inventiveness and human genius.

Preserving this heritage means constantly questioning how it can be made accessible to the widest possible audience. With this objective in mind, each year new developments and innovative projects are presented to visitors, a rich program of events punctuates the life of the estate, and ecological actions are implemented. The estate is also developing a strategy to diversify its own resources, notably by reviving its vocation as a food-producing farm.

Chambord’s projects are structured around four development priorities: Chambord cultural and artistic, Chambord educational and social, Chambord sustainable and agricultural, and Chambord innovative. To support us in this approach, we are looking for partners who share our values and wish to promote them.

Instead of arriving at a community with our preconceived notions, Frontline Missions seeks out the community leaders and strategizes to discover root issues and goals that will have the most impact on the community. Through creative solutions such as Bible Storying, leadership training and economic development, entire communities encounter the transformative power of the Gospel. We believe this approach honors the individuals and leaders in the community, builds lasting relationships, and sustains results over generations.

Starting in 1997, Frontline Missions embarked on continuing campaigns to take the Gospel to unreached, unengaged people groups, UUPG, around the world.  As part of this effort, we joined forces with several partner organizations who travel with us to train Indigenous people.  These Indigenous missionaries are learning how to utilize technology to share the Gospel in communities very few can reach.

Whether you want to go on a short term mission to spread the Word, or want to cheer others on from home, we can sow into this historic ministry by providing finances for missionary travel expenses and support for their families while they're gone.

Our History:
Frontline Missions develops and cultivates partnerships within the global church to train and equip followers of Jesus to reach the nations for Christ.  We do this by tailoring creative solutions to the specific needs of each country, village, and person we encounter.  We currently operate in seven countries in Central and South America, helping people in underdeveloped regions with solutions like Bible storying, leadership training, and economic development.  This opens the path for self-sustainability and self-transformation through relationship with God.

SEEDS (Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society, www.seedsindia.org) is a 30+ years experienced humanitarian organisation that enables community resilience through practical solutions in the areas of disaster readiness, response and rehabilitation.

Since 1994, the organisation has worked extensively on every major disaster in the Indian subcontinent – grafting innovative technology on to traditional wisdom. SEEDS is recognized as one of the important humanitarian actors in India and Asia. It has reached out to families affected by disasters and climate stresses; strengthened and rebuilt schools and homes; and has invariably put its faith in skill building, planning and communications to foster long-term resilience. SEEDS is also India’s first agency to be certified for the global Core Humanitarian Standards – an international certification system for quality and accountability in humanitarian response.

We extend our commitment to voluntarily contribute to the goals set for 2030 in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR), Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Paris Agreement.

Bareebo: Tuk, Aha, Sahmahtuhpeeup in Khmer stands for Enough: Water, Food, Ability. At Bareebo, we believe people should have access to clean water, healthy food, and opportunities to improve their lives. In rural Cambodia, where Bareebo works, many people lack these essentials.
When you donate to Bareebo, you support a dynamic community development program that serves those with the abilities and desire to improve their lives and those who cannot provide themselves with the necessities of life.
We work with the farmer cooperative we helped form in 2020, the Thomacheat Prasat Banan Agriculture Cooperative. Together, we are building community-owned and operated enterprises. In 2023-25, we will focus on creating locally sourced and made agricultural products, such as compost and natural fertilizers.
With over 13 years of experience serving our communities, we know some struggle to obtain life’s necessities. The elderly and infirm, people suffering from physical and emotional disabilities and traumas, and children not getting the essentials they need. To these vulnerable human beings, Bareebo provides food, shelter, health services, and whatever else we can.

Piton Partnership is a nonprofit organization that supports the village of Piton, Haiti. Based in Blanchester, Ohio, 

**Our Mission:** Aid to Infrastructure exists to support the under-served communities around Piton, Haiti on the southern peninsula in the Petit Goâve area.

Piton Partnership (Aid to Infrastructure)

Armenia emergency appeal to help people fleeing Nagorno-Karabakh.

Tens of thousands of people have fled to Armenia following the resumption of fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh on Tuesday, 19 September, and the subsequent surrender of the local authorities. From the very outset of these developments, our dedicated team has been on the ground, delivering crucial humanitarian assistance. The protracted conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh has inflicted unrelenting suffering on the local population since its eruption in 1988.

"The situation is critical, with over 105 000 people in need of assistance.  There are older people and families with small children. Many have taken only the basic things with them and lack adequate clothes, food, or hygiene items. We are relying on funds from our donors to respond to the civilian population's current needs," says Varduhi Dadunts, People in Need's Country Director in Armenia. 

"We will provide people with water, food, shopping vouchers, mattresses and blankets or clothes. We will help equip accommodation centers, support children and older people, and provide other basic humanitarian assistance. We are asking the public to contribute to our Armenia emergency appeal," says Šimon Pánek, CEO of People in Need. 

"In Armenia, we have been helping people affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for a long time. We have been supporting people affected by the conflict and subsequent developments, including the situation around the Lachin Corridor and current events," says Petr Drbohlav, People in Need's Regional Director for the Eastern Partnership and the Balkans.

People in Need is the largest non-governmental organization in Central and Eastern Europe, delivering development and humanitarian assistance to 25 countries across Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA, and Asia. In 2022 alone, People in Need supported over 4,5 million people.   

People in Need has been working in Armenia since 2003 and is therefore well placed to provide timely and the most relevant assistance.  

*Armenia emergency appeal to help people fleeing Nagorno-Karabakh

The recent escalation of conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, preceded by the 9+ month blockade of the Lachin corridor has triggered the mass evacuation of Nagorno-Karabakh population, with at least 100,520 persons (over 80% of the region’s population) fleeing to Armenia between September 24 – 29. 2023. Already highly vulnerable after a prolonged blockade that has severe impact on their ability to access basic services (including basic food or medicine), the exiled people of Nagorno-Karabakh were   able to take with them little to no belonging.

The current situation is drastically different from before. Unlike previous displacements, this time they have no hope of ever returning to Nagorno-Karabakh. It means their needs include urgent, life-saving assistance such as emergency shelter, food, psychosocial support, health or protection, as well as mid to long-term integration support such as developing sources of income, education, etc. 

* Why your support matters?

• As of October 4, 2023, at least 100,520 persons have fled from the region towards Armenia, largely entering the country through the Lachin corridor and ending mainly in Goris/Syunik. 
• The coordination of the response is led by the Armenian government and supported by the UNHCR. Humanitarian actors are expected to coordinate their aid activities with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, and are then being referred to municipalities for further coordination.
• The current response relies on limited humanitarian resources and it can be expected that needs will rapidly become unmet as these are exhausted.
• PIN was among the first to respond with immediate food and emergency assistance in Goris. We were also amongst the first to support the official registration center run by authorities. 

In the coming months, PIN is planning to scale up its work and provide immediate assistance with:  
(a) Shelter and non-food items; 
(b) Food security and livelihoods;
(c) Education and child protection;
(d) Mainstreaming protection.
