The ARChive of Contemporary Music is a not-for-profit music library dedicated to collecting, preserving and providing information about popular music from around the world.    Now in its twenty-eighth year of operation, ARC is the largest and most important popular music collection in the world – with over three million sound recordings and approximately four million  photographs, books, press kits, videos, memorabilia and related ephemera.   Our simple goal is to guarantee that the world’s musical heritage is preserved for future generations to study and enjoy.     We believe that all forms of popular music, jazz, be-bop, bluegrass, country, rock, rap, blues, enka, reggae, calypso, zydeco, and countless other forms are significant cultural expressions.  All musics entertain as well as reveal a people and their values to the rest of the world.

We empower animal advocates with research, analysis & strategies that maximize their effectiveness to reduce animal suffering.

We conduct essential research, maintain an online research library, and directly support advocates and organizations in their work to save lives. The range of data we offer helps our movement understand how people think about and respond to advocacy, providing advocates with the best strategies to inspire change for animals.

Our Original Studies are carefully selected, designed, and conducted to provide actionable and insightful data for the animal protection movement. Our research prioritization process helps us identify studies that have a high potential impact for animals, and our commitment to transparency and rigorous methodology ensures that our studies are of the highest quality. Our studies have been covered in hundreds of publications across animal advocacy circles as well as in mainstream media, and have been used by animal advocacy groups worldwide.

The Faunalytics Library is completely free, and houses summaries of over 4,000 peer-reviewed research articles, public opinion surveys, and blog posts offering deep analysis on every animal issue you can think of. It’s the world’s biggest collection of opinion and behavior research about animal issues, and it’s presented with an emphasis on effectiveness, readability, and useability. Poverty, disease, hunger, climate change, war, existential risks, and inequality: The world faces many great and terrifying problems. Our World in Data focuses on communicating the best research and data that helps us understand and find solutions to the world’s largest problems.


Our World in Data publishes an open-access publication where users can understand the state of the world today, where we are making progress and where we are falling behind. Through interactive data visualizations we can see how the world has changed; by summarizing the scientific literature we can understand why. We cover everything from global poverty to natural disasters, education and health, democracy; we have over 13,000 charts across hundreds of topics.


Our World in Data is free, open-source and provided as a public good. It has millions of users every month, and is cited in research and media across the world every day. This allows millions of people to understand the large problems the world is facing, and how we can solve them.

Our work focuses exclusively on truly important stories, stories with “moral force.” We do this by producing journalism that shines a light on exploitation of the weak by the strong and on the failures of those with power to vindicate the trust placed in them.  Investigative journalism is at risk. Many news organizations have increasingly come to see it as a luxury. Today’s investigative reporters lack resources: Time and budget constraints are curbing the ability of journalists not specifically designated “investigative” to do this kind of reporting in addition to their regular beats. New models are, therefore, necessary to carry forward some of the great work of journalism in the public interest that is such an integral part of self-government, and thus an important bulwark of our democracy.
