Top Graduates, Top Tools: 4000 USD Together
Project Description
We're on a mission to transform the lives of underserved youth at NairoBits. We aim to raise 4000 USD (KES 400,000) for our top graduates, providing them with essential tech tools for successful careers. By supporting this initiative, you empower aspiring minds with a laptop or smartphone, helping them overcome educational barriers and empower them economically. Join our community of 1,000 alumni, 30 partner organizations, and 20 donors to be a part of this powerful journey.
Challenge
Kenya has a predominantly young population, with 75% under 35. However, unemployment is problematic, at 35% and affecting 4.5 million young individuals. NairoBits tackles the challenge underserved youth face, by training them to be skilled digitians. This provides them an upper hand but still the level of unemployment in Kenya is high.
Solution
NairoBits is keen to help students start their careers off the bat after graduation day by awarding the top students with laptops and smartphones. This ensures the participants can bid for jobs online and get hired from their communities to help create graphic event posters. This is a step towards economic empowerment, therefore we seek to capacitate them with tools to freelance and self-employ on graduation day.
Long-Term Impact
This first-time device graduation award project will empower over five students to improve their chances at economic empowerment after their NairoBits' post-program journey. It will motivate the oncoming cohorts, ensuring they are keen on the programs they enrol.
