When service ends, too many women veterans find themselves without a mission, without a team, and without the connection they once had. That’s why we founded the Athena Foundation.

The Athena Foundation grew from a single weekend retreat of women who said, *“I didn’t know what was missing — but I found it in the Athena Tribe”.* That moment became the spark for our program: **Two Checkpoints to Home**. A multi-year journey of deep connection, leadership, healing and community.

We ran our first cohort — **Tribe25** — and the change we witnessed was real: renewed confidence, authentic vulnerability, purpose reignited, sisterhood born. And months later, the relationships and connection continue to strengthen.

At **The Athena Foundation**, we believe the mission doesn’t end when service does.
We are a women-veteran-led nonprofit dedicated to **empowering, connecting, and supporting female service members and veterans** through **nature-based retreats and community engagement**.

Our **Two Checkpoints to Home** program helps women veterans **rediscover purpose, build confidence, and reconnect** with a community that understands the unique challenges of life beyond the military.

In partnership with leading veteran organizations, Athena brings together women from all stages of service and transition for **immersive outdoor experiences** designed to restore leadership, resilience, and belonging.

During each checkpoint, **powerful conversations unfold**—stories of strength, loss, and renewal that remind every woman: *you are not alone.* Together, participants share challenges, laughter, and healing while reigniting the sense of purpose that service once provided.

Over a three-year journey, these shared experiences blend **reflection, leadership development, and adventure**, creating a lifelong sisterhood of support that extends far beyond the retreat.
