At GHII, we operate structured 6 month pre-service training internships for recent biomedical engineering and informatics graduates.

Our biomedical engineering program, OpenO2, works to improve oxygen access and sustainability across Malawi by maintaining and repairing oxygen concentrators. Alongside technical services, OpenO2 runs research and development initiatives to create practical solutions that enhance oxygen delivery.

Our Informatics program focuses on developing and implementing technology-based solutions to address health challenges. We specialize in creating systems that improve efficiency, data collection, and patient care for our partners by utilizing a diverse range of skills including programming, 3D modeling, simulation, and electronic design.

Since GHII's inception:

- 73 individuals have completed our post-graduate internship program
- 51 young graduates secured a work placement within 3 months of completing their post-graduate internship

$1,533 supports one intern for 6 months. Partner with us to help us reach our $5,000 goal.

GHII @ Five: Support our Internship Program

GHII trains future biomedical informaticians and engineers to create solutions bridging science, engineering, and global health.

To train the next generation of biomedical informaticians and engineers using a unique service learning approach to develop interventions at the intersection of science, engineering, and global health that address problems of global health importance and improve the delivery of healthcare.

GHII operates in two domains; biomedical **engineering** and **informatics**. Across both domains, GHII works to solve problems of global health importance while building capacity. We operate structured 6 month pre-service training internships for recent biomedical engineering and informatics graduates.

OpenO2: Our biomedical engineering program, OpenO2, works to improve oxygen access and sustainability across Malawi. The program uses a team of biomedical engineers and technicians who operate mobile workshops to maintain and repair more than 2,500 oxygen concentrators and pulse oximeters in all central, district, and select mission hospitals in Malawi. Alongside technical services, OpenO2 runs research and development initiatives to create practical solutions that enhance oxygen delivery in resource-limited settings. 

Informatics: Informatics at GHII focuses on developing and implementing technology-based solutions to address health challenges, particularly in Malawi. This program specializes in creating systems that improve efficiency, data collection, and patient care by integrating a diverse range of skills including programming, 3D modeling, and electronic design. The team's work focuses on leveraging data and technology to create practical tools that streamline clinical workflows and support evidence-based decision-making.
