The Equality Starts Here Collective offers a collective approach to building economic, social, and political equity for Black women in the South, specifically Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and the District of Columbia. Our Collective approach—grounded in an understanding that large-scale social change requires broad coordination—centers on a common agenda, shared measurement system, mutually reinforcing activities, continuous communication, and a democratic governance structure with an identified anchor organization. Decades of targeted disenfranchisement of the Black community, must be dismantled to create an even playing field. By implementing a proven and effective toolbox of interventions ranging from legislative advocacy to grassroots organizing, legal support, media and communication trainings, and direct community education and outreach, we will develop a sustainable infrastructure that accelerates Black women's and girls' leadership and activism, igniting change across the nation.

We believe homelessness in Boston can be solved.  Friends of Boston’s Homeless supports innovative, solutions-oriented programs with proven track records that help people transition from the streets and shelters into safe, dignified housing and live peaceful, hopeful and fulfilling lives. We focus on removing the final barriers of transition that often programs, and the people they help, don’t have the means to cover. The final transition steps out of homelessness are often the most crucial, and we make them happen.  Like a Parent/Teachers Organization or a “Friends of the Public Library” group, Friends bridges the gap between public sector funding and the current needs of the homeless by providing a vehicle for individuals, businesses, foundations and charitable organizations to be a part of the solution to homelessness.  Please join us in our mission!  Friends of Boston’s Homeless provides direct and impactful ways individuals, corporations, foundations, groups, and charitable organizations can be an important part of ending homelessness in Boston. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities and group drive options, along with several ways to contribute through our fundraising events, sponsorships, donations to programs, and through our new Housewarming Registry.
