This is really important work, and now that there is more understanding and attention around racial equity, we have a chance to make some real difference in an area like this with many donations. 

The movie Hidden Figures inspired us all.  This organization is about building up from the bottom to more top scientists and coders.  Early starts matter!

The Steel Yard offers arts and technical training programs designed to increase opportunities for cultural and artistic expression.

The Steel Yard is a non-profit industrial art center and shared studio located in Providence, RI. We’re an arts maker space and non-traditional craft school offering courses & educational programs in blacksmithing, welding, jewelry, foundry, and ceramics. 

Our public projects department fabricates functional, design-driven public-art for installation throughout Southeastern New England. These decorative bike racks, trash cans, benches, and fences are found at businesses and main streets from Western Massachusetts to Block Island, with custom metal sculptures installed along waterways, parks, schools and public spaces across the region.

We’re a community of artists, makers, and learners. We host an artist residency program for emerging and mid-level artists that provides full access to our studios and equipment. Our welding job training program pays under-employed Rhode Islanders to learn welding, shop safety, and associated skills with the goal of getting a good-paying job.

Our 3.8-acre award-winning campus is the perfect venue for public and private events and one-of-a-kind fundraisers like our annual Halloween Iron Pour.

The mission of the Wikimedia Foundation is to empower and engage people around the world to collect and develop educational content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally.  In collaboration with a network of chapters, the Foundation provides the essential infrastructure and an organizational framework for the support and development of multilingual wiki projects and other endeavors which serve this mission. The Foundation will make and keep useful information from its projects available on the Internet free of charge, in perpetuity.

Helping Haiti help itself for over 30 years. Donate today to help Haiti recover from this devastating earthquake.

We have completed our initial assessments of the damage from the reported 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck southwestern Haiti around 8:29am on 8/14, and the smaller earthquakes that struck afterwards. Immediately after the first earthquake struck, Hope for Haiti’s Country Director, Linda Thélémaque initiated our emergency phone tree to ensure the safety of all 62 Haitian staff members in-country. All team members are safe.

The devastating effects of the earthquake and coastal flooding have been felt throughout our impact area around Les Cayes and the southern (SUD) department. There are reports of fatalities, injuries, and significant damage to homes and healthcare facilities from our team and network of healthcare partners. Our Infirmary St. Etienne and office in Les Cayes were damaged, as were a number of staff homes.

We have a stockpile of emergency kits prepositioned and ready to distribute to vulnerable individuals and families. Given our over three decades of experience in emergency preparedness and response in southern Haiti, we are well-positioned and uniquely qualified to use our best available resources to help make a difference. Our team lives and works in the communities we serve, and is made up of Haitian doctors, nurses, program managers, and others dedicated to improving their own country.

Black Girls CODE is devoted to showing the world that black girls can code, and do so much more. By reaching out to the community through workshops and after school programs, Black Girls CODE introduces computer coding lessons to young girls from underrepresented communities in programming languages such as Scratch or Ruby on Rails. Black Girls CODE has set out to prove to the world that girls of every color have the skills to become the programmers of tomorrow. By promoting classes and programs we hope to grow the number of women of color working in technology and give underprivileged girls a chance to become the masters of their technological worlds. Black Girls CODE's ultimate goal is to provide African-American youth with the skills to occupy some of the 1.4 million computing job openings expected to be available in the U.S. by 2020, and to train 1 million girls by 2040.

The mission of Safe Space Radio is to inspire courageous conversations, break down the barriers that divide us, and create compassionate communities.
Founded in 2008, Safe Space Radio has broadcast more than 300 episodes and received numerous awards. The first season of our four-part miniseries, Can We Talk?, broadcast in May 2019 for Mental Health Awareness Month. Two long-form specials, Out-Takes, on suicide prevention among LGBTQ teens, and Still Here, on caregiving and dementia, both broadcast nationally in 2016. Our podcast is used in training programs for healthcare professionals, therapists, and teachers as they learn to address the needs of underserved populations.
