Second Harvest Food Bank of OC is a nonprofit focused on providing food and nutritional security for all in Orange County.

At Second Harvest Food Bank, our vision is an Orange County with food and nutritional security for all. In collaboration with our partners, we provide dignified, equitable and consistent access to nutritious food, creating a foundation for community health. Our partner network includes houses of worship, schools, after-school programs, colleges and universities, senior centers, shelters for the unhoused, soup kitchens and transitional housing facilities, with sites at over 300 locations throughout the county. Each year, we distribute tens of millions of pounds of food to an average of over 300,000 neighbors in need each month. Thousands of pounds of produce is harvested each week at the 40-acre Harvest Solutions Farm, a collaboration with Solutions for Urban Agriculture and the University of California South Coast Research & Extension Center begun in August 2021, and Founders Farm, both in Irvine. Second Harvest is a member of the Feeding America network. According to the WHO, depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide, and is a major contributor to the global burden of disease. In Africa, an estimated 66M women have depression and 85% have no access to treatment. Since 2014, StrongMinds has treated over 200,000 individuals for depression symptoms, with 80% measuring as depression-free after therapy. When a woman recovers from depression, she is more engaged in the community and her economic activity increases. Her family eats more meals and her children go to school more often. When you invest in mental health, you invest in the future of an individual, their family, and their community.
