Chokhor Gepel Ling is a Tibetan Buddhist Center founded by Thupten Rinpoche following the inspiration and guidance of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama.

Our mission is to provide an environment for contact with Tibetan Buddhism, to promote awareness about Tibetan and Himalayan culture, and to support young monks at our affiliated temple in India, Thupsung Dhargye Ling.

Unlike traditional education, The Knowledge Society (TKS) doesn’t care about conventional metrics like grades or extracurriculars. We care about curiosity, ambition and the desire to make a big impact in the world. We then equip these young change-makers with the knowledge, skills, and an environment of encouragement to solve some of the most important problems of our times, transforming these ordinary teens into “tech superheroes”. TKS has been recognized by WEF as a School of the Future. 

How do we do it? Students from across North America participate in a 10-month accelerator program with weekly sessions on emerging technologies in areas like artificial and nanotechnology that are changing the world. They participate in real-world challenges that companies are currently facing with a community of like minded peers. They earn access to top-tier mentors and unique opportunities like conferences, speaking engagements and internships. They develop foundational mindsets like gratitude and first principles thinking which will help them make a significant impact on the world. This is a program unlike any other. 

The result? TKS students have gone on to work at leading startups and tech companies, earn research positions in cutting-edge research labs and even land VC funding to bring their projects to life. Our students are using emerging technologies to tackle the biggest problems in the world you care about: health, climate change, data security, and social inequality. 

Your donation will keep TKS accessible to all students, regardless of their family’s financial means. Many of the most impactful transformations and top-performing students are from low-income families. The Knowledge Society

The destruction of healthy forest systems causes so many different problems. Trees provide a habitat for animals, purify water sources, control flooding and erosion and help to replenish the soil with nutrients needed for farming. When farmers can’t grow anything their farms fail and they have no option but to move to the overcrowded cities looking for work. Often they have to resort to selling themselves or their families into slavery just to survive.

We start by hiring the local community to plant trees. This gives them a decent income so they can provide for their families again. As the reforestation effort goes on, healthy forests begin to emerge and all the negative effects of deforestation begin to disappear.

Mary's Place believes that no one's child should sleep outside. We provide safe, inclusive shelter and services that support women, children, and families on their journey out of homelessness.

Since 1999, Mary’s Place has helped hundreds of women and families move out of homelessness into more stable situations. We provide safe, inclusive shelter and services that support women, children and families on their journey out of homelessness. Across nine emergency family shelters in King County, we keep struggling families together, inside, and safe when they have no place else to go, providing shelter, services, resources, community, and hope.  

Meals, showers, and laundry facilities–children are connected with schools. In the evening, families in shelter eat dinner, do homework, socialize, and prepare for the week ahead. Each day, Housing Specialists work with families to address barriers and empower parents to build family stability, secure housing, and prepare for employment. Kids do homework, participate in fun and enriching activities, and go on outings and adventures in Kids Club. 

Children with life threatening illnesses should not be living in cars and tents awaiting chemo or dialysis. Families who have lost everything in the struggle to get their child well have a place to receive care and support in shelter at Mary's Place Popsicle Place shelter program.

Still, capacity is limited and hundreds of families are outside each night in cars and tents. Mary’s Place Diversion program and team of mobile outreach specialists work with unsheltered families where they are, to address barriers and help move them quickly into stable housing, bypassing a shelter stay.

The women’s drop-in Day Center in downtown Seattle provides meals, showers, laundry, access to resources, safety and  relationship to over a hundred women each day.

The support of the community keeps our doors open. The path out of homelessness can be long and challenging. Each person that finds housing is ultimately responsible for his or her accomplishment, but often a community of support, education, and advocacy has helped along the way. 

Mary's Place

The Fungi Foundation is a global organization that works for the Fungi, their habitats, and the people who depend on them.

Launched in 2012, the Fungi Foundation is the first NGO dedicated to the fungi kingdom. Since its inception, it has achieved numerous milestones while dedicating itself to exploring the fungi world in view of increasing knowledge of their diversity, educating about their applications, and recommending public policy for their conservation. As part of our ongoing 3F initiative, the foundation played a key role in enabling Chile to become the first country in the world to include protection of fungi in its environmental legislation. More recently, the foundation proudly announced the Fantastic Fungi Education Curriculum, the world's first mycological set of courses designed for schools.

In short, the Fungi Foundation envisions a healthy planet in which Fungi are recognized, protected, and embraced as the interconnectors of nature; a mission that would be impossible without the essential support of our kind, engaged donors.

The Good Food Institute (GFI) is a global network of nonprofit organizations developing the roadmap for a sustainable, secure, and just protein supply. Industry alone will not meet this challenge at the scale or speed we need. GFI is accelerating the transformation of the food system by identifying solutions and mobilizing resources to make alternative proteins the default way meat is made.

GFI is a network of nonprofits around the world strategically based in the most critical economies for alternative protein advancement. In Asia, Europe, Brazil, India, Israel, and the U.S., GFI’s teams are mobilizing the international community to use markets and technology to replace harmful practices with ones that are better for the climate and biodiversity, for food security, and for global health.

GFI’s Focus
As a nonprofit, GFI is uniquely positioned to accelerate the transition to alternative proteins by focusing on three programmatic priorities:

-Cultivating a strong scientific ecosystem | GFI’s science and technology teams map out the most neglected areas that will allow alternative proteins to compete on taste and price. GFI meets these challenges by developing open-access research and resources, educating and connecting the next generation of scientists and entrepreneurs, and funding research that benefits alternative protein development across the sector. 

-Influencing policy and securing government funding | GFI’s policy teams ensure that alternative proteins are a part of the policy discussion around climate change mitigation and global health. In every region where GFI has a presence, teams advocate for government funding and incentives to transition to alternative proteins and are paving the way for the approval of novel proteins such as cultivated meat.

-Ensuring industry prioritizes alternative proteins | GFI’s corporate teams are creating a transformation of our global meat supply. GFI works to replicate past market transformations by showing companies of all sizes, from startups to multinational corporations, how alternatives to animal products can be profitable while meeting environmental, social, and governance goals.

The very real threats of climate change, global food insecurity, antibiotic resistance, and pandemics require us to imagine a different future of food. Alternative proteins are the solution that will securely and sustainably feed the world.

QuestBridge creates programs for talented low-income students to access exceptional educational and life opportunities.

QuestBridge has successfully shaped the lives of the most promising, low-income students in the nation and has helped them unlock billions in scholarships.

Every year, there are over 30,000 outstanding high school students from low-income backgrounds who are academically qualified to attend the nation’s top colleges. Over 80% of them do not apply to even ONE selective college and they remain highly under-represented on leading college campuses.

Many of these promising students assume they can’t afford an education at a top college. Others lack the education about what it takes to apply to a selective college, or simply assume they can’t be admitted.

When low-income students miss the opportunity to apply to and attend great colleges, this has a profound effect on their futures. Many end up reaching below their actual academic potential, or they don't attend college at all. Of those who attend college, most don't graduate.

This vast amount of untapped talent equates to a staggering loss in human potential. As America strives to remain competitive in our global society, promising students from across the economic spectrum are vital to the wealth and future of our nation-at-large.

Using innovative data methods to target and reach thousands of high-achieving, low-income students, we provide programs that help students reach their fullest potential, which could include attending a top-tier college on a full scholarship. We also provide these students with ongoing resources and a supportive community of Scholars to help them thrive in college and beyond.

Poverty, disease, hunger, climate change, war, existential risks, and inequality: The world faces many great and terrifying problems. Our World in Data focuses on communicating the best research and data that helps us understand and find solutions to the world’s largest problems.


Our World in Data publishes an open-access publication where users can understand the state of the world today, where we are making progress and where we are falling behind. Through interactive data visualizations we can see how the world has changed; by summarizing the scientific literature we can understand why. We cover everything from global poverty to natural disasters, education and health, democracy; we have over 13,000 charts across hundreds of topics.


Our World in Data is free, open-source and provided as a public good. It has millions of users every month, and is cited in research and media across the world every day. This allows millions of people to understand the large problems the world is facing, and how we can solve them.
