Aquatic Life Institute (ALI) was founded in 2019 to address the critical and often overlooked issue of aquatic animal welfare. Recognizing that aquatic animals are the most exploited group of animals worldwide yet remain largely unprotected, ALI set out with a mission to drive systemic change and elevate aquatic animal welfare as a priority in global food systems.

Our theory of change is rooted in the belief that by influencing key stakeholders and decision makers, advancing policies, and fostering collaboration, we can drive systemic transformation for billions of aquatic animals. 

Building on this foundation, ALI has emerged as a thought leader, advocating for tangible improvements across the seafood supply chain. By engaging with key stakeholders, including corporations, certification schemes, and policymakers, we work to ensure that aquatic animals trapped in the food system receive the attention they deserve in decision-making processes relating to sustainability and food systems. 

ALI’s work is driven by evidence-based strategies and collaboration. This approach has earned ALI widespread recognition, including a 2024 Top Charity recommendation from Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE). This endorsement solidifies ALI’s position as one of the most effective organizations in the world advancing aquatic animal welfare.

RIP Medical Debt empowers donors to forgive billions in oppressive medical debt. We are dedicated to removing the burden of medical debt for individuals and families and veterans across America.

Medical debt destroys the financial stability of large segments of America’s most vulnerable communities: the sick, the elderly, the poor, and veterans. It also targets the middle class, driving many families who are barely getting along into poverty. Medical debt isn’t the result of bad decisions. It’s a debt of necessity.

By forgiving this debt we strive to give struggling individuals, and their families, a fresh start. We hope to give those affected the ability to seek the continued medical care they need and help them back towards financial stability.

Every day, we receive messages from people who suffer under crushing debt far beyond their financial means to pay—from the son of a stroke survivor in Kentucky whose family could not keep up with their mortgage payments, to the cancer patient in Florida whose debts made it impossible for her to continue with necessary treatment. Rising healthcare costs and endless bills are leaving families with nowhere to turn.

RIP uses donors’ funds to wipe out medical debt from the neediest cases up. 

Once we’ve pinpointed the portfolios for those in or near the poverty level, we buy up their debt and forgive it. Then we send forgiveness notices to the benefiting families, and subsequently help the recipients repair their credit reports—renewing their access to opportunities and resources that will allow them to rebuild and recover.

The vision of Chico Housing Action Team is a community where everyone has access to safe, suitable housing they can afford. 

We recognize the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and each person’s right to make decisions about their own lives.

We care about those who are suffering in homelessness, especially those who are disabled or ill, children, and the elderly, and we work to alleviate that suffering by providing safe and suitable housing.

We work cooperatively with our community, our fellow service and housing providers, our local governmental agencies, the people we serve, and especially with and among our own CHAT team.

We are nimble, flexible and solution focused as we seek out opportunities and innovations solutions to homelessness.  

We are committed to the principle that housing is a human right.
