we.are.village in Berlin is creating new ways that queer communities can connect, transform and heal. For the last eight years, we have operated a unique space for queer masculinities and femininities, transgender, non-binary, genderfluid, intersex and other gender non-conforming people.


Our goal is to help queer people create and embrace healthier, better connected and purposeful lives. We do this by nourishing individual and collective growth through working with the body, mindfulness, artistic expression, consent and a range of self-empowering tools and strategies. In the process, we tackle loneliness, lack of self-esteem, intimacy and addiction issues, dealing with discrimination and other intersectional challenges that limit and impact queer lives.


We have created a diverse and continuously adapting program of weekly and monthly events, community evenings, weekend trips as well as art exhibitions, performances, salon discussions and offerings via our online platform.


Although it was never our focus, we  have become a model for other cities and countries. We regularly host visitors and participants from all over the world and have seen an increase in international interest from individuals, other organizations, activists, artists, politicians or other practitioners wanting to find out more about our innovative model and methodologies.

Our mission is to maximize the safety, accessibility, and efficacy of community-based growth with the help of psychedelics.


Psychedelics are promising but are limited to two modes of use: the clinical/retreat approach which is expensive or going underground which can be risky

There’s a third way that humans have been doing for thousands of years: Community. But community doesn’t come naturally to an individualistic culture such as our own.

Our vision is to see a nationwide network of community-based growth and transformation centers. Our mission is to maximize the safety, accessibility, and efficacy of community-based growth and transformation with the help of psychedelics.

We’re creating Trellis: a framework for community-based growth and transformation that will turn it into a culturally integrated practice, much like the 12 step program did for AA. 

Trellis has two components: Programming and Infrastructure.

- **Programming**: Trellis Cohorts, Group Journeys, and Workshops provide structured opportunities for growth and connection.
- **Infrastructure**: Escalation Protocols, Community Stewards, Ethics Guidelines, Conflict Resolution tools, and the Trellis Handbook ensure these practices remain grounded, safe, and sustainable.

Through Trellis, we support our members with engaging events, empower them with educational workshops, and foster connection through intentional community-building.

Psychedelic substances have the potential to facilitate profound personal insights and emotional healing. However, they can also elicit overwhelming psychological distress. To navigate these complexities, it’s essential that communities are equipped to provide compassionate and culturally attuned care for supporting people in non-ordinary states of consciousness. 


The Zendo Project provides peer-based compassionate care at events and offers educational resources to communities and organizations. We support individuals in navigating complex psychedelic experiences, emotions, and other non-ordinary states of consciousness, reducing potential harms and fostering opportunities for deeper connection to self and others.

These efforts reduce interactions with law enforcement and prevent unnecessary hospitalizations.
